Introducing Platt, Myrick, and Cameron

I got a request to do an introduction post for these three, which I had already been thinking of doing myself, so I figured now was as good a time as any.  😁 I’ll try to add clothing styles for them at a later date.

picture of Platt Bradley Christopher Platt  was born June 7th, 1997 on a US Navy base in Spain. He is an only child. When he was nine, his father, a SEAL, was killed in action. Platt and his mother then moved to a small town in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley to live near his paternal uncle. His mother soon became addicted to alcohol, and his uncle was abusive. As a result, Platt isolated himself socially from his peers, although he was an Eagle Scout and active member of his church. He loves kung fu movies and studying samurai. His lifelong dream is to become a SEAL like his dad. He is touchy, determined, principled, and inhibited. He got accepted to USNA in the same class as Zain and was his roommate for their Plebe Summer.

Brian Alexander Myrick (pictured with Cameron) was born October 21st, 1992 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He has one older sister. He attended a military boarding school from ninth through twelfth grades and started USNA at age twenty. He once taught judo, and he enjoys playing pool. His skills include lock-picking and writing in shorthand, but his social skills could use some work. He is an Electrical Engineering major who will be taking a two-year civilian scholarship at Johns Hopkins before he enters the service. The best words to describe him are controlled, righteous, and “still waters run deep.” He rarely lets emotions show, except to those who know him well.

photo of CameronJustine Mae Cameron was born premature, on November 8th, 1993, in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up in the Charleston suburbs with her two brothers (she is the middle child), and was doted on by her family, leading her to be somewhat spoiled and always demand the best, though this is tempered by her good heart. She took an interest in both medicine and the military from a young age and decided to become a Navy physician. She constantly has to prove herself in defiance of stereotypes about pretty blonde girls from the South. She enjoys a good fight but tries to show compassion to those who deserve it. With a sharp sense of humor, she likes to relax and let her guard down when she’s off-duty.

Introducing Seb and Zain

picture of SebSébastien Leon McKenna Crews was born on February 18th, 1994 in Santa Cruz, California as the youngest of four children. He was bilingual from a very young age, thanks to his French-Irish mother, and often slips into French if he’s under great physical or emotional stress. Just after he turned seven, he began to rapidly lose weight and was constantly exhausted and thirsty. His parents took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and put on an insulin regimen. His parents worked hard to make sure he could do the same things his brother and sisters did despite his illness, but Seb still felt different and weak compared to them. Naturally introverted, he would disappear for hours at a time, usually to someplace high, and use art as a means to escape. He is talented, quiet, deeply spiritual, and self-conscious. When he was fourteen, he got a summer job at the Santa Cruz boardwalk, where he met Zain.

picture of ZainCorporal Zain Ayman Mohyeldin was born on April 4th, 1993 in Los Angeles, California as the oldest of three children. His parents were originally from Egypt, so he’s bilingual as well, in English and Arabic. The family moved to Santa Cruz when he was fifteen, where he immediately started working at the boardwalk. Seb became his first friend in town. At the end of the summer, Zain went to live with Seb’s family after telling his own he was gay. The attraction they had always felt towards each other led to a relationship. Joining the US Marine Corps was Zain’s childhood dream, but he decided he had already given up so much to be out of the closet, he didn’t want to go back in because of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He waited to enlist until May of 2011, when he was 18 and after it was repealed. Still, he had to keep his sexuality a secret until the repeal went into effect in September of that year. In October, he was deployed for seven months to Afghanistan. When he returned, he was assigned to duty on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. He is loyal, goofy, affectionate, and charismatic. Seb and he live off-base and are engaged to be married.

Introducing Quint and Theo

picture of TheoTheodore William Calhoun (born August 3, 1983) grew up in New York City in a very traditional Catholic family, but he’s now agnostic. He and his father have been estranged since he came out at seventeen; fortunately, his mother is still close. Theo was diagnosed with AD/HD when he was seven, so his first few years in school were rough, but he tested well enough to be accepted into a prestigious magnet school. After graduating, he went to NYU as a music major on a full scholarship, but had trouble managing all of his school work and his social life, and lost the scholarship after three semesters. When he met Quint he was 23 and living with his best friend while playing gigs with his band. He’s average height with a slightly lean frame, and he has messy auburn hair, hazel eyes, and is usually in need of a shave. His AD/HD is now better controlled, but he’s still naturally an active and outgoing guy and hides his insecurities with a wicked sense of humor and a talent for performing.

picture of QuintQuint’s birth name is Rafferty Leopold Hanniford V, but he prefers the nickname he picked up in his New England boarding school. He was born on September 19, 1966 to a Boston Brahmin family, although he and his parents aren’t close. He works as a pediatric pulmonologist at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. He’s reserved around new people, and has a tendency to be set in his ways and slightly inhibited, but he’s a natural with kids. He was on the rowing team at his prep school and at Harvard, and still has the body to show it: tall and powerfully built. He’s 41 when the series starts, and has curly black hair that’s graying around the temples, and blue eyes. He usually wears black horn-rimmed glasses. He’s a firm Top, but it’s difficult to actually annoy him.

picture of JaggerA soft-coated Wheaten terrier named Jagger shows up for Christmas one year. He’s energetic, but very well trained, thanks to Quint’s consistent approach. Theo likes to take him busking around the city when the weather’s nice, and Jagger gets more money tossed into his food bowl than Theo gets in his guitar case.
